Ahhhh, fall is finally here! Crisp mornings and chilly nights are starting to make an appearance in Florida. Consequently, it’s time to do all the fun fall activities basic girls like me live for.
This past weekend, Andrew and I adventured to the land of perfectly plump pumpkins, confusing corn mazes and abundant photo opportunities – The Pickin’ Patch. This pumpkin patch was unique compared to the typical already-cut-off-the-vine, in-a-church-parking-lot pumpkin patch.

The Pickin’ Patch is actually at a farm. Upon arrival, you grab a wagon and some clippers and set off to find the perfect pumpkin to cut right off of the vine. We had so much fun exploring the patch, scouting out which pumpkin we each wanted. The patch has gourds, white pumpkins and regular, beautifully orange pumpkins.
After we each picked out a pumpkin, we went through the corn maze. Little kids raced past us, trying to find the way out, but mostly failing with every wrong turn. While not large, we still got pretty turned around – but that’s the fun of it, right?
Usually, the farm has a huge garden of large sunflowers. Unfortunately, they need batch of sunflowers wasn’t in bloom during our visit. Hopefully next year we can experience them in all of their glory!
If you’re looking for a great pumpkin patch that’s unlike any other, I highly recommend The Pickin’ Patch, located in Dunnellon, Florida. But, you better hurry – this weekend will be the last weekend they are open for the season. Get to pickin’!
What's fall without carving some pumpkins? When we got home later that night, we sat on the porch while watching the Great British Baking Show and carved pumpkins. I learned that I'm a terrible pumpkin carver, but it was still fun!
